CareFusion’s First Vanpool

Orange, California – Employees of CareFusion’s Yorba Linda facility are the first vanpool on the road. Tach Sirichai, Jose Vicencio, Roscoe Woody, Cynthia Poillot, and Merritt Girgis met with Tracy McConnell from VPSI and within two weeks formed their vanpool group.

The group had the same work schedule and lived within the same area so determining their route from Murrieta to Lake Elsinore and stopping in Orange was finalized with everyone’s input. The group is ecstatic about cutting their commuting cost in half and will recruit additional passengers for an even greater savings. Read More

CA Higher Education Sustainability Conference Wrap Up

June 20-23, 2010 – VPSI showcased its vanpool program at the 2010 California Higher Education Sustainability Conference, held at the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. Several decision-makers from the three higher educations systems, consisting of 142 campuses, were amongst the many attendees visiting the VPSI booth. They attended the conference to learn more about environmentally preferable purchasing, green building, dining services, transportation, water and energy efficiency, climate action planning and cutting-edge research. NDIA’s Environment, Energy, Security and Sustainability Conference Spotlights Vanpooling

The National Defense Industrial Association’s Environment, Energy, Security & Sustainability Symposium and Exhibition (E2S2) opened at the Denver Convention Center yesterday and many of the nearly 1,100 attendees flocked to VPSI’s booth to learn more about sustainable transportation solutions like vanpooling. With about 1,100 vanpools in service at 96 military installations around the country, many of the conference attendees were familiar with VPSI’s program but few realized VPSI captured and reported the environmental benefits that result from the program. Mr. Herman Varmall, Environmental Department Head at the Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland, observed that collecting and reporting the environmental benefits of the carpools and vanpools commuting to “Pax River” would help support the base’s overarching sustainability goals.
