Now that we’ve established our new Van-Pools.com blog, we need your help to fill it with interesting and exciting submissions about your experiences commuting to work.

The iPhone App That’ll Save You Fuel and Money

How many tons of CO2 does my car release when I drive 70 miles per hour on the highway? What about when I drive 55 miles per hour? In fact, what is the most fuel-efficient speed on the highway?
Ughh! The tips and tricks to saving money and preserving fuel economy are endless. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a tool that told you your vehicle’s fuel consumption right then and there so that you could adjust your habits instantaneously?
Apparently, there is. Check out this iPhone application, greenMeter, from Hunter Research and Technology.
Since all iPhones have accelerometers, greenMeter uses this tool to gather data about your driving. Instantly you can see information about your engine’s horsepower, fuel economy, fuel consumption, fuel costs, energy impact AND carbon footprint.
