Those of us who vanpool already know the built-in benefits of ride sharing.
We also know that convincing others of these benefits is sometimes easier said then done.
Forbes has an interesting article on its website about a study in which smartphone users were awarded points for making sustainable choices about their daily commuting needs.
It’s an interesting concept and it got us wondering what your thoughts are about “game-ifying ” sustainable commuting. Would a system that awarded points for smart commuting motivate you to make “greener” commuting choices?

MichiVan made an official appearance at this year’s Green Street Fair, a three-day festival held in downtown Plymouth, Michigan created to help educate the community about eco-friendly products and services from all over.
MichiVan set up shop on “Alternative Highway.” On site to help spread the word about vanpooling were Account Coordinators Jennifer Schneider and Alexis Vertalka and one of their trusty Dodge Grand Caravans. A “pool” of foam vans sat casually on the table, where passerbys, mostly children, had the chance to pick out a floating vanpool and win a prize (See photo above).
The event turned out to be a great success. Hopefully, we’ll start seeing more MichiVans on the road!
