Sunrise over Texas
The above photo was submitted to our Photos Taken From the Road contest. Unfortunately, we couldn’t award everyone an iPad for their photos, but we can feature honorable mentions like the one above, submitted by Marsha in Clear Lake, Texas. Her vanpool meets at 6:40 a.m. and occasionally get what she calls a “breathtaking true Texas Sunrise.”
For the next couple of weeks, we’ll be featuring some of the top photos submitted to the contest, so be on the lookout for more of our favorite photos from commuters around the country.

Rensselaer Technology Park
On Tuesday, August 10, VPSI’s Jesse Kafka gave a presentation on vanpooling to interested commuters working at the Rensselaer Technology Park (RTP) in North Greenbush, NY. Home to more than 2,400 employees working at the site’s tenant employers, RTP is a project of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is located just across the Hudson River from New York’s capital, Albany.
As a site focused on developing new technologies, RTP was chosen to host the event, including the promotion of a free trial week of vanpooling to any interested group willing to try the program. Please see the following links for media coverage of the event:
Times Union, “Cooperative Commuting”
News 10, “Vanpooling offers capital region commuters another option”
YNN: Your News Now, “Vanpool available for working commuters”
