Reminder: Send Us Your Charitable Photos, Win Coffee for Your Commute

December 6th, 2011 0 Comments

From now through Christmas, we’re encouraging our vanpoolers to organize their own donations to Toys for Tots (or any other charity) and to send us pictures of their efforts, whether it’s a van full of toys or your vanpool presenting a check to a local charity.

The size of the gift isn’t important. It’s the thought behind it that’s significant.

Here’s how it works: Send your photos and mailing address to chris.hooper@vpsiinc.com. Throughout the season, we’ll pick our favorite shots and post them to our van-pools.com blog. If we post your picture, we’ll send you a $50 Starbucks gift card for you to share with your vanpool group.

We’re excited about working together with our vanpoolers to make a difference in peoples’ lives this season.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Roadtrip Destination #6: Boyne, Michigan

November 10th, 2011 0 Comments

If you’re looking for an authentic winter wonderland getaway this Holiday season, look no further than Boyne, Michigan.

Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands resorts are located in the northeastern part of the state, about 60-75 miles northeast of Traverse City. It would be difficult to find another resort area in the eastern United States that boasts as many winter activities as Boyne.

Visitors have been enjoying Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highland ski slopes since 1947. Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain (located about 40 miles south of Boyne Highlands) offer 114 downhill runs for beginner and expert skier/snowboarders. Boyne even contracts a team of Austrian race experts to lead a ski school.

Check out these interactive trail maps:

If skiing and snowboarding is outside of your comfort zone, join your kids (ages 5 and up) for an exhilarating tube ride  or ice-skating adventure. Boyne Highlands offers an ice rink on the pond in front of the Main Lodge, while Boyne Mountain’s ice rink is located behind the Clock Tower Lodge. Or hunker down for a dog sled ride with the Iditarod sled dogs at Boyne Highlands, and enjoy the resort’s scenic trails while learning about the illustrious dogs and experiencing their amazing kinship firsthand.
