vRide Surpasses 30,000 Users

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’re probably already aware of vRide, our new online community for VPSI Inc.’s vanpool participants. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about vRide and everything it’s capable of doing for our vanpoolers, as well as those who are interested in getting involved with vanpooling. Users can enter information about their commutes and see active vanpools and vanpools that are just getting started. They can even connect with other commuters who want to start a vanpool.

It’s easy, it’s self-directed and, most of all, it’s very useful. And it’s really catching on. Since we launched nationwide earlier this month, vRide now has more than 30,000 users, representing more than 5,000 vanpools.

If you’re already using vRide, thanks for making its nationwide launch such a success. And if you’re new to vanpooling, or have yet to try out vRide, please give it a try. We think you’ll be glad you did.

From the Contest Mailbag

June 28th, 2011 0 Comments

One of the reasons why we launched our Read it on the Road contest a few months ago was to engage with you — our readers — and find out some of the reasons why you have chosen vanpooling, not only as a means of commuting, but also as a facet of your everyday life.

And boy, did you ever deliver.

We were humbled, touched, amused and informed by your responses to the questions we posed. We learned a lot about what makes vanpooling work and about why people do it and it’s given us some ideas about what we do well and, more importantly, what we can do better.

VIDEO: Introducing Tales from the Van

June 9th, 2011 1 Comment

During the past few months, we’ve asked vanpoolers to share some of their experiences about their commuting adventures with their ride-sharing pals.

Now we’re bringing it to the next level. And, again, we’re asking you to join in.

Last week, we traveled along with a group of vanpoolers riding to work in Detroit from Ann Arbor. We also brought along a video camera and asked them to talk about what it is they like about sharing their commute with their fellow vanpoolers.

As you might expect, the results were as entertaining as they were informative. And here’s the video to prove it.

We’d like to see videos of your own vanpooling experiences. The format is up to you. Interviews with your fellow riders? Great! Cinema verite, complete with long shots of raindrops on the windshield? C’est magnifique!

The only limits are on your imagination. (And, naturally, good taste and blog-friendly content!)

Just post your video to Youtube and then send an e-mail to chris(dot)hooper(at)vpsiinc(dot)com. We’ll review the content and post it.

Thanks in advance. Stay tuned for more information. Meanwhile, we’re excited to see your videos and share them with others on the blog!

March 4th, 2011 1 Comment

Call it cockeyed optimism. Call it cabin fever. Call it the winter doldrums. Call it whatever you want, but we’re ready for the spring thaw. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like these folks were.

Have a great, unflooded weekend, everyone!

Fail Friday: For the Birds Edition

Today’s Fail Friday is more of a win for these fine feathered folk, and comes to us from our own national account director Ed Sweeney, who spotted it on the Facebook page of the American Prairie Foundation.
