Troy, Michigan – On January 22, US Congressman Gary Peters (D-MI) spent his afternoon discussing transportation, health care and other current legislative issues at VPSI’s Home Office. In addition to talking with VPSI executives about issues facing private providers of public transportation, Peters also agreed to hold a town hall meeting with VPSI and MichiVan staff.
Peters stressed the need to address Michigan’s struggling economy. “I’m here to help you continue to grow,” he explained. “I came here to see what you’re doing first hand.”
“We’re in a race with China, Japan and Europe in the auto industries. Michigan is not only a factory state, we’re also strong in research and development. We have more engineers in Southeast Michigan than anywhere else in the country. The most important thing is getting people jobs.”
