VPSI President/CEO Jeff Henning and Congressman Peters
Today, US Congressman Gary Peters (D-MI) spent his afternoon discussing transportation, health care and other current legislative issues at VPSI’s Home Office. In addition to talking with VPSI executives about issues facing private providers of public transportation, Peters also agreed to hold a town hall meeting with VPSI and MichiVan staff.
Peters stressed the need to address Michigan’s struggling economy. “I’m here to help you continue to grow,” he explained. “I came here to see what you’re doing first hand.”

Congressman Peters speaks with VPSI and MichiVan staff
“We’re in a race with China, Japan and Europe in the auto industries. Michigan is not only a factory state, we’re also strong in research and development. We have more engineers in Southeast Michigan than anywhere else in the country. The most important thing is getting people jobs.”

I AM 81 Years old and will soon have to rely on Public transport. As I quick short term solution I propose to expand the Bus System in Oakland County so that buses can run every 10 minutes on major routes and 20 minutes on cross county roads.
Buses should also be made available the Detroit Library, Orchestra Hall, Science Center and the Detroit oPERA AND fOX TIHEATER TO COORDINATE WITH PERFORMANCES
Big Oil will not let this happe.
