The following post was written by Charles Cordell from McDonough, Georgia. It was originally submitted to our iPhone contest, but it was so enjoyable that we had to share it with our readers.
Last year on my birthday, I was taking the vanpool home. That evening, my wife and I had plans to celebrate the occasion. She had a doctor appointment and was supposed to call me when she was finished. However, she called me about 20 minutes after her scheduled appointment time. She told me that she was six months pregnant and that we were having a girl.
At first, I couldn’t believe it because we were told in December 2007 that she couldn’t get pregnant. When she held the phone up to the ultrasound and I heard our baby’s heartbeat, any disbelief quickly disappeared. After hanging up with my wife, the first people I told were my fellow riders, who offered their congratulations. Our daughter, Makenzie, was born three months later. She was and still is the best birthday surprise I have ever received.
